Expo Milano: get your groove on at the Peugeot Food Truck on June 21 and July 14!
Since the 2015 World's Fair, Expo Milano, opened in May with the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, the Peugeot Food Truck, Le Bistrot du Lion, has been enjoying prime real estate in front of the French Pavilion. Under the direction of chefs from the Centre Culinaire Contemporain (Contemporary Culinary Center) in Rennes, Le Bistrot du Lion puts the spotlight on French culinary expertise and products by offering complimentary tastings for more than 800 visitors a day. Le Bistrot du Lion boasts innovative design that makes preparing quality street food easy, but that’s not the only sign that it’s hip to the times: it also includes a space for mixing music that will host Jabberwokcy and Breakbot & Friends on June 21 and July 14 respectively.
Twenty million people are expected to visit Expo Milano and its 53 national pavilions before the event closes its doors on October 31. The predicted average footfall for the French pavilion alone is 9,000 a day. Set up right outside the French pavilion, the Peugeot Food Truck, Le Bistrot du Lion, welcomes nearly 800 people a day, serving up complimentary delicacies prepared by the chefs of the Centre Culinaire Contemporain (Contemporary Culinary Center). The freshest ingredients (fruits, vegetables, dairy, etc.) from all of France’s different regions are highlighted in the chefs’ offerings.
The Peugeot Food Truck, dubbed Le Bistrot du Lion, is the brainchild of the Peugeot Design Lab and was unveiled in Paris in April. It then took up residence at the Milan Design Week before traveling to the World’s Fair. Thanks to its revolutionary design, this compact van doubles its width when parked to become Le Bistrot du Lion. Complete with areas for preparing food, dining and grabbing a drink, the food truck is also a place where you can soak up some music: a new focus for Peugeot since the recent launch of its digital platform Peugeot Music, which offers web radio and exclusive playlists.
June 21: Jabberwocky comes to the Peugeot Food Truck turntables
On June 21, for the 34th annual Fête de la Musique (World Music Day), Peugeot will welcome French band Jabberwocky to the helm of the Peugeot Food Truck’s mixing tables. The electro-pop musicians brought out their first single, “Photomaton”, in 2013. It quickly became a hit and was featured in the commercial for the Peugeot 208.
Thanks to technology and speakers by French sound-system leader Focal, visitors are sure to enjoy high-quality sound!
A killer team in the kitchen and at the mixing tables on July 14
As part of the Bastille Day celebrations on July 14, the young and talented French chef Angèle Ferreux-Maeght—who strives to reconcile gastronomy and healthy eating, enjoyment and well-being—will be running the show in the kitchen of Le Bistrot du Lion. Her menu features only seasonal, organic and gluten-free ingredients for a truly healthy gastronomic experience. Meanwhile, the DJs Breakbot & Friends (the artists behind popular hits “Baby I’m Yours” and “One Out of Two”) will be in charge of the musical ambiance to make the Peugeot Food Truck the trendiest and most groovy culinary spot on the map!
