PEUGEOT Technology: Euro 6 engines prove their efficiency

PEUGEOT has quickly and significantly reduced the CO2 emissions of all its vehicles. Speedy introduction of the PureTech 3-cylinder petrol and BlueHDi diesel engines along with the new THP 1.6 L petrol engine and EAT6 gearboxes now place 20 PEUGEOT vehicles at the top of their vehicle class for CO2 emissions (five PureTech, three 1.6 L THP and 12 BlueHDi engines). The very low-consumption model of the PEUGEOT 208, at 79 g/km of CO2, boasts the lowest emissions in the world for a combustion engine vehicle. And the PEUGEOT 308, at 82 g/km of CO2, holds the record for the C segment.
With ever cleaner engines and lower CO2 emissions, PEUGEOT is upholding its standards for environmentally friendly vehicle design. PEUGEOT's environmental performance enabled the PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN Group to regain its position as European leader in 2014 with an average of 110.3 g/km of CO2 in a European market whose average is 123.7 g. This result has been achieved with no change to the segment mix.
High-performance engines combine efficiency with driving pleasure. This latest generation of engines and EAT6 automatic gearboxes are also in keeping with the PEUGEOT brand promise to introduce a new, improved and exciting driving experience.

 

 


PureTech: A complete and efficient family of Euro 6 petrol engines

Launched with the PEUGEOT 208 from 2012, in atmospheric versions of 1.0 L 68 HP and 1.2 L 82 HP, the PureTech 3-cylinder family was expanded in 2014 with the 1.2 L 110 HP and 130 HP turbocharged versions fitted with Stop & Start, introduced by the PEUGEOT 308.

These new engines meet the 6.1 emissions control standard in advance required in Europe from September 2015 onwards. Their use in the PEUGEOT range continues during the first half of 2015 with six new applications:

 The new PEUGEOT 208 1.2 L PureTech 110 S&S EAT6;

 The PEUGEOT 2008 1.2 L PureTech 110 S&S;

 The PEUGEOT 2008 1.2 L PureTech 130 S&S;

 The PEUGEOT 3008 1.2 L PureTech 130 S&S;

 The PEUGEOT 5008 1.2 L PureTech 130 S&S;

PEUGEOT also offers five best-in-class vehicles in the petrol engine category with among the lowest emissions of CO2 on the market. There is at least one PureTech version leader in its power rating category for emissions of CO2 on PEUGEOT 208, 2008, 308 and 3008.

PureTech engines are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed manual for the most powerful or can be fitted with the new 6-speed EAT6 automatic gearbox (Efficient Automatic Transmission 6-speed), representing a new benchmark in terms of driving pleasure.

The new PureTech 3-cylinder turbo engines contribute a real breakthrough in terms of fuel consumption compared to the previous generation, with type approval consumption figures reduced by 21% compared to the engines they replace. This was achieved while guaranteeing real driving pleasure, with continuous power and 230 Nm of torque available from the lowest engine speeds. The PureTech engine provides exceptional punchy performance, constant power up to 6500 rpm and acoustic comfort allowing you to forget the engine is there.

 

BlueHDi: the most efficient clean Diesel technology on the market for engines with increased performance

Since the end of 2013, with BlueHDi, PEUGEOT has been using the most efficient emissions control technology on the market to equip its new generation of 1.6 L and 2.0 L diesel engines and once again is ahead of the emissions control standard. The 1.6 L BlueHDi 100 HP and 120 HP family of engines has grown with the addition of a 75 HP version. It is characterised by driving pleasure and record fuel consumption. The 2.0 L BlueHDi 150 HP and 180 HP family of engines feature high-performance levels and reduced consumption.

The use of BlueHDi engines in the PEUGEOT range is set to continue during the first half of 2015 with more than ten or so new applications:

 The new PEUGEOT 208 1.6L BlueHDi 75, 1.6 L BlueHDi 100 and 1.6 BlueHDi 120 S&S;

 The PEUGEOT 2008 1.6L BlueHDi 75, 1.6 L BlueHDi 100 and 1.6 L BlueHDi 120 S&S;

 The PEUGEOT 3008 1.6 L BlueHDi 120 S&S, 1.6 L BlueHDi 120 S&S EAT6 and 2.0 L BlueHDi 150 S&S;

 The PEUGEOT 5008 1.6 L BlueHDi 120 S&S, 1.6 L BlueHDi 120 S&S EAT6 and 2.0 L BlueHDi 150 S&S;

 The PEUGEOT 508 1.6 L BlueHDi 120 S&S;

 The new PEUGEOT Partner and Partner Tepee adopt a complete range of 1.6 L BlueHDi engines.

 

 

12 models from the PEUGEOT range fitted with the BlueHDi engine are "best in class" for their segment, with cubic capacity, respective power rating and CO2 emissions ranging from 79 to 112 g/km.

BlueHDi engines are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox for 75 and 100 BP versions, a 6-speed manual and/or 6-speed automatic EAT6 gearbox (Efficient Automatic Transmission 6-speed) for 120, 150 and 180 BP versions.

SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) is already the most efficient NOx after-treatment technology on the market. Furthermore, its unique location in advance of the additive-treatment FAP (particulate filter) on PEUGEOT vehicles is the only one which, due to early stage priming of the SCR, assists with the reduction of NOx (nitrogen oxides) by up to 90% and removal of 99.9% of particulates, including the very finest.

At the same time, this highly efficient method of reducing the NOx assists with optimising emissions of CO2 and reducing engine fuel consumption by up to 4% in comparison with EURO 5 engines, via a combustion chamber and dedicated "CO2" adjustment.

Locating the SCR in advance of the additive-treatment FAP (particulate filter) is made possible by the ability of the additive-treatment FAP to regenerate at much lower temperatures than other types of FAP technology used by our competitors.

1.6 L THP: a new generation of Euro 6 engines even more frugal and high-performance!

Introduced by the PEUGEOT RCZ R in early 2014 on the 270 HP version, the Euro 6 generation of 1.6 L THP engines also comprises the following versions:

 1.6 L THP 165 S&S and 1.6 THP 165 S&S EAT6 introduced by the new PEUGEOT 508 in September 2014;

 1.6 L THP 208 S&S introduced by the PEUGEOT 208 GTi 30th in November 2014;

 1.6 L THP 205 S&S from the PEUGEOT 308 GT.

The use of 1.6 THP Euro 6 engines in the PEUGEOT range is set to continue during the first half of 2015 with:

 The PEUGEOT 3008 1.6 L THP 165 S&S EAT6;

 The PEUGEOT 5008 1.6 L THP 165 S&S EAT6;

 The new PEUGEOT 208 1.6 L THP 165 S&S

 The new PEUGEOT 208 GTi 1.6 L THP 208 S&S;

 The new PEUGEOT 208 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport 1.6 L THP 208 S&S.

The 1.6L THP 165 S&S engine is available with 6-speed manual gearbox and/or 6-speed EAT6 automatic gearbox (Efficient Automatic Transmission 6-speed). 1.6 L THP 205, 208 and 270 HP versions are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The three most sporty models in the PEUGEOT range fitted with the 1.6 L THP engine are "best in class" for emissions of CO2 in their respective segment. They range from 125 to 145 g/km of CO2, for power ratings of 205 HP to 270 HP, demonstrating  PEUGEOT's ability to offer cars that combine a sporty performance with moderate fuel consumption.

Voted International Engine of the year for the 8th year running, the 1.6 THP 200 HP engine shares this title in 2014 with the 270 HP version which still holds the special power rating record on the market for a 1.6 L engine with 125 kW/litre.
