The 100 000th PEUGEOT 2008 produced less than a year after its launch
Less than a year after launch, the PEUGEOT 2008 urban crossover has just passed the milestone of 100 000th examples produced. This 100 000th 2008, labelled “Origine France Garantie” (Made in France Guarantee) and manufactured at the Mulhouse plant, was handed over to its customer in the presence of Corinne Spilios, the Director of the Mulhouse production centre and Xavier Duchemin, Director of PEUGEOT France.
Unveiled as a world first at the last Geneva Motor Show, the PEUGEOT 2008, arriving to crown the brand’s offering in the B segment after the launches of the 208 GTi and XY, has become one of the best-sellers of 2013 with already more than 100 000 orders to its credit.
Built only at the Mulhouse site for all countries except China and those in Latin America, the PEUGEOT 2008 was labelled “Origine France Garantie” in September 2013, with 73 % of its components made in France. It also received 5 stars in the Euro NCAP tests and is the only vehicle in its category to offer a Grip Control technology, a system that improves traction.
Quickly attracting French customers, then those in other European countries, the excellent start to its sales has required 3 increases in production at the Mulhouse site, reaching a level of 680 vehicles produced per day, which is a doubling of the rate of production since launch.
The PEUGEOT 2008 has also won nearly 10 awards, in Ireland, Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Turkey,…. and is evidence of PEUGEOT’s move up-market in the B segment with 68 % of sales for the upper trim levels.
For this 100 000th 2008, its customer – from the Paris region – came to the Mulhouse site for a symbolic handover of the keys with Corinne Spilios, Director of the Mulhouse site, and Xavier Duchemin, Director of Peugeot France.
